The IMGS Secretariat is pleased to announce that starting in 2023 the Keynote lecture presented each year at the International Mammalian Genome Conference will carry the name of a deceased IMGS member who made exceptional contributions both to the IMGS and to the field of genetics.

The first named Keynote Lecture (2023) was presented by Dr. Toshihiko Shiroishi in honor of Dr. Kazuo Moriwaki, a founding member of the IMGS.

In 2024 , the Keynote Lecture was presented by Dr. Gary Churchill in honor of Dr. Beverly Paigen.

IMGS President’s Award

The IMGS Secretariat is pleased to announce the launching of a new award to be implemented in the IMGC in March of 2024.

This award is designed to recognize exceptional accomplishments of a scientist early in the independent phase of their career.

 To be eligible the candidate should 

-be a current member of the IMGS

-be pre-promotion at an academic/research-centric institution

-have been an active member of the IMGS at least during their independent phase of career

-participated in at least one IMGC

The award will include paid travel, registration fee and hotel to attend the next IMGC (in exceptional cases, the award may be delayed by a year). The award does not guarantee an oral presentation slot. The winner of the award will be selected from the nominated candidates by the IMGS Secretariat and notified of their award at least 6 months prior to the relevant IMGC.

Nominations for any of the above should include

-       A letter of nomination including

o   scientific accomplishments (scholarly productivity)

o   IMGS/IMGC participation or activities of candidate

-       Current CV of candidate

o   Includes Publications/Grants/Presentations

-       Candidates must sign the attached form consenting to participation in the IMGC 

Self-nominations are encouraged. For the 39th IMGC (2026), please send nominations to imgsgeneral@gmail.com as soon as possible, but no later than January 31, 2025.

The 2025 IMGS President’s Award is given to Dr. Dwi Kemaladewi of the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The first IMGS President’s Award (2024) was given to Dr. Jason Bubier of the Jackson Laboratory.
